Chances are, once upon a time, you probably stumbled upon my site while looking for writing advice. Maybe you read about me in the press. Or perhaps you’ve enjoyed sharing in the book love on my Instagram.
Regardless of how you found me, I’m glad we're connected!
My career has been a bit of an adventure, beginning in the entertainment industry before finding my home in the world of publishing. After working in business and legal affairs in television and film production, I realized I needed to follow a new path. I had already been editing book and script projects, so publishing felt like the logical next path – a path I’m so glad that I took.
I started as an assistant at a literary agency, where I was quickly promoted to agent. While at the agency, I worked with many New York Times-bestselling authors and instantly fell in love with the highs of helping writers get their books in the hands of readers.
(Fun fact: I closed my first major book deal hours before my wedding rehearsal dinner – what a stressful weekend!)
The main downside of working as an agent, however, is that we are at the mercy of publishers – as agents are paid by commission only, they can only pitch projects that are 100% ready to be published. So if an author is at the beginning of their writing journey, it is a giant gamble to help them.
So after interacting with thousands of authors – most of whom were motivated and excited but just needed a bit of direction, hand-holding, or coaching – I decided to hang up my agent hat and started Turn the Page Book Coaching & Editorial.
Since I started my coaching business in 2016:
I’ve appeared in publications like Forbes, The Huffington Post, Publisher’s Weekly, and Writer’s Digest.
I’ve spoken at writer’s conferences nationwide.
I’ve served as a judge for writing competitions.
In 2021 alone, I worked on over 75 book projects (and read over 50 books for pleasure).
When my family and I moved into our new home last autumn, I finally got the library I’ve dreamed of – but with over 60 boxes of books to unpack, I promptly ran out of bookshelves!
(Now I have to find some that match the others I already have - #firstworldproblems.)
And I have the world’s best clients. The words they write lift me, teach me, inspire me, entertain me – and yes, even aggravate me sometimes!
Here are some things they’ve said about me:
“I recommended anyone who is serious about becoming a writer to work with Megan. She will help bring your manuscript to the next level.”
“What makes Megan such an amazing editor/coach is her genuine passion for the written word, her ability to quickly grasp topics and make insightful suggestions regarding content and structure, and her deep knowledge of what editors need to see in manuscripts and proposals alike…in short, hiring Megan will be the best book decision you’ve ever made.”
“Megan was a huge help in assisting me with my first business book proposal. It was so well-written that it easily landed an agent, a book deal, and two more book deals following that.”
“Megan’s work is exemplary…you will find her services of great benefit to you wherever you are on the writing trail.”
“Megan is an absolute joy to work with. As a first-time author, I felt held in every way by her. Excited to publish!”
“I love this lady!”
So now it’s your turn – where are you on your writing journey? What do you need help with? Perhaps I can help you! (And if you’re already published, send me a link to your book – I’m always looking to add to my TBR pile.)
As this new year begins, I hope you take the opportunity to make this the year you share your book with the world – I’m here to help you any way that I can.
To you and your book!
Introducing the Author’s Roadmap, a boutique service offered to authors who are ready, really ready, to realize their long-held dreams of being published.
First we’ll begin with a 60-minute call in which we’ll get to know one another. You tell me about you and your book and what your big, audacious dreams are for getting it published (and even after that). You ask me whatever questions you have and together we identify which roadblocks are keeping you from getting to your last stop.
After we meet, you’ll send me your manuscript and I’ll dive deep within it, identifying which aspects will be most attractive to publishers, literary agents, and readers – and which might need a little work (and then I’ll tell you how to fix them).
Finally, I’ll give you the steps you will need to take to get your book published, and beloved by readers everywhere. Looking for a literary agent? I’ll tell you how to get there. Self-publishing? I’ll get you there, too.
It can be hard to know which way to go, and the options can feel overwhelming.
I’m here to get you where you need to be: published.
